2023 will be a good year for Marvel as phase five is underway. Most recently, fans have noticed that in phase four of the cinematic universe, the movies and series that Marvel has been realising are not as good as those released in phases one, two and three.

Within phase four, we were introduced to many new characters and even said goodbye to much-loved ones. This is what we call the ‘new generation’. As the actors who place the beloved superheroes that we have known since 2008, there comes to a point where their storylines are coming to an end, or the actors themselves are growing older and decide it’s time to retire from Marvel.

In a way, we could say that it was obvious that phase four wasn’t going to be as popular as the other phases because it’s a phase where you say goodbye to your favourite superheroes as another takes over.
Clint Barton for example (played by Jeremey Renner) was given his own series which introduced us to Kate Bishop (played by Hailee Steinfeld) who at the end of the series, becomes ‘partners in crime’ with Barton after battling it out with Yelena (Natasha’s sister). Both Kate and Clint are famous for their archy skills which leads

fans to believe that very soon Clint will hang up his bow and allow Kate to take over. As phase five informs us that there are many ‘Avenger’ movies in the works, this leads us to believe that this scenario will be happening to the original Avengers.
Now let's talk about phase five. From now to July 2024, we have been promised many movies and series that will continue on the solo stories of those introduced in phase four. This and many more characters which we do not know as of yet. With Ant-Man coming first up, will this movie be about Scott Lang finally retiring and perhaps turning over his suit to his daughter? If that’s the case as it is with the other Avengers, maybe 2023 will make Marvel popular again like it was before in the other phases.
