The na, na, na's of 'Hey Jude' are among the catchiest chords that few can resist singing along to. 'The Upbeat Beatles’ performance at the Castle Theatre in Wellingborough proved that.

The moment the popular tribute band started the familiar lyrics, the audience joined in for a spine-tingling rendition of the unforgettable chorus – showing just how connected Beatles music continues to be and how these four men perfectly captured the spirit of the Fab Four.

The original group’s growth from an unknown Liverpool band to international stardom was reflected in costume, set and guitar changes throughout the show. They shifted from later to earlier music with Paul (played by Simon Blight) asking the audience to ‘give him a minute to age up'.

'A Hard Day's Night', 'Help!', 'Yellow Submarine’ and thirty other songs were performed in a two-hour extravaganza.
Simon Blight, who plays Paul McCartney, told me that after listening to 'Strawberry Fields Forever', he felt so captivated that he would “spend all his pocket money” on them. He later relearned how to play bass in his left hand so he could portray McCartney realistically.

In his first encounter with 'Something', Colin Yates who plays George Harrison, believed that no other song would ever be “as great”. However, his father disagreed, considering that the writing styles of other songs, such as 'Within You, Without You' and 'When I'm 64', were so diverse.

As Ringo Starr, James Jordan has played in pubs across the world since fifteen, and now is a member of 'The Upbeat Beatles'. He says: "Performance with this band is as easy as when I joined 10 years ago."
